       Controlled relative humidity boxes

Two boxes are used; one for each relative humidity. One box maintains a relative humidity around 53%, and the other box maintains the relative humidity around 75%. Supersaturated solutions of MgNO3 and NaCl are respectively used to maintain the above relative humidities. The presence of visible crystals in the solution provides acceptable saturation evidence. The box temperatures must be stable (± 2°C) around room temperature.

       Thermo-hygrometer:

Both boxes must contain a hygrometer that also measures temperature.

       Balance:

Samples are removed from the box one at a time for weighing. The balance must have ample capacity for the tested specimens (about 0.15 kg.) and an accuracy to at least ± 0.01 g.
