The pore solution can be analyzed by using procedures such as atomic absorption analysis, ion chromatography, and pH titration to obtain the ionic content of the pore solution. The following cations and anions should be analyzed for ordinary Portland cement concrete samples: Na+, K+, Ca2+, SO42-, Cl, and OH. For concretes containing calcium nitrite corrosion inhibitors, pore solution analysis should also include nitrite and nitrate ions (NO2, NO3).
