Pore solution is extracted from crushed samples made from cementitious materials. Specimens may include a disk from the same cylinder or core used for migration test. The companion specimen should be large enough for two independent extractions. Laboratory cast and wet-cured cylinder specimens should be 30-35 mm thick. Cores extracted from existing structures may be a maximum of 50 mm thick.

The crushed samples should have particle sizes varying from approximately 5 mm to 25 mm.
